About UsDear customers,
I am an Irishman living abroad. My wife and I are living here in the lakeside village of Meilen some twelve odd miles outside Zurich, Switzerland and our appartment overlooks the lake Zürich See. I was born in England and at the age of ten the family moved to Ireland ( my parents are both Irish ). I later worked in Munich for twelve years where I met my wife and since 1997 we have been living in Switzerland. My wife is German. I qualified from the Honorable Society of Kings Inns, Dublin as a barrister at law and have worked for many years in the insurance industry.
We are not antique professionals as such but have, for many decades , keenly collected a vast number of antiques and collectible items - to such an extent that I can hardly see the lake anymore! My wife ( quite the magpie ) is mainly responsible for this state of affairs and the appartment is now like an overstuffed " Aladdins' Cave." I must say that our cave and three extra large cellars in the basement ( please note, that some of the items are consequently a bit dusty and the lucky purchaser might have to take out some polish! ) are stuffed with many many desirable antiques and collectible items. We have now both decided to part with many of the items and as I now have time on my hands I am udertaking to do same. This task will take a very long time to carry out but I look forward very much to doing it and meeting some nice people along the way. We have decided to sell the items exclusively on Rubylane. Please note that even though we never actually received any formal education or obtained any qualification(s) within the antique industry we managed, over the years, to build up quite a lot of knowledge on the whole topic.
We have decided to name our private venture " Caragh Antiques " after the very scenic Caragh Lake in County Kerry , Ireland - close to which we own a small cottage. Lucky future successful purchasers can take dual satisfaction from the fact that they have done a wonderful deal with Caragh Antiques and that they have additionally increased somewhat our view of Lake Zurich
