A large and handsome antique Barbedienne French patinated hollow cast bronze antique portrait bust of Jean Léopold Nicolas Frédéric, Baron Cuvier. Marked "F. Barbedienne Fondeur" on the side and /stampednumbered 107 inside.
Measures About : 21"H x 13"W x 9"D. Normal surface wear but overall very fine antique condition. Late 19th century I assume.
Jean Léopold Nicolas Frédéric, Baron Cuvier (1769-1832), known as Georges Cuvier, was a French naturalist and zoologist, sometimes referred to as the "founding father of paleontology".
