Jean Despres (1889-1980) Art Deco period hammered silver plate centerpiece bowl with 3 rows of spheres wrapped around the base. The bowl, measuring about 6" tall x 9.5" wide and weighs in at nearly 4 lbs. is in excellent vintage condition with a couple tiny flaws and 3 small circular spots as seen, which may or may not be part of the design or the way it was made. Just a beautiful class Art Deco piece.
Jean Despres was a French jewelry maker and designer best known for his intricate Art Deco jewelry made from semi-precious stones, machine parts, and enamel. Despres' aesthetics were largely inspired by his friendships with avant-garde artists, including the Cubist Georges Braque.
