Original Frank Stanley Herring (1894-1966) framed watercolor & ink painting entitled, "Picking Cotton". I have not removed it from the frame to see if it is signed. Wonderful WPA mural style 1930's- 40's painting. Perhaps it was a maquette for a mural, don't know but it is amazing and in amazing condition. The frame has some flaws as you can see in some of my photos. I grew up in Louisiana and I heard my father say a thousand times when we were kids, "when I was your age, I was picking cotton from morning 'til night".

I love this piece and it has a very folk art style feeling. I purchased this from an auction gallery in New Orleans that from a collection that included several of Mr. Herring's paintings. I will guarantee authenticity. Wonderful WPA mural style 1930's- 40's painting. Art exposed 7 3/4" x 23" with frame 15.25" x 31.25".
