Beautiful 19th unsigned, cast bronze after the "Dying Gaul", or also known as the "Dying Gladiator". It is from a long lost Hellenistic period (323-31 bc) sculpture It is well cast, with a fallen ancient warrior, the ovoid base cast in relief with a large sword and shield, unsigned, covered in a brownish green patina. He is connected to a solid black marble/stone base with bun feet. Most likely Italian but again, unsigned.
He measures about 8 5/8" tall and about 14.5" long. Condition: a few light scuffs and patina surface imperfections/wear, a very tiny dent on the back of the base rim, possibly from the cast as it is not missing any patina. It was pretty dirty so I quickly used a wet bristle brush on the crevices but some dirt/dust remains. It is 15 lbs before packing, so a nice heavy piece.
