Large Fraser River Salish Basket Lillooet

This is from the Lillooet tribal group from the upper Fraser River of British Columbia. Made from inner cedar root, using the bifurcated coil technique. It is decorated with a linear geometric pattern, red, and black, red for cherry bark, black is fermented cherry bark, using a bird, geese in flight design It has a tight-fitting lid domed shape, with the original simple handle. It is in strong good condition, it has some very light rubbing on the imbricated design, otherwise good condition, no repairs, it measures 9 inches tall x 13 inches x 6 inches deep. Circa 1920 – 40.
