We are pleased to offer for sale this gorgeous RARE oyster plate. It dates circa 1880's. This is a gorgeous porcelain plate featuring six wells for oysters.

Stunning hand painted details. decorating a very eye catching pattern. This form is so beautiful. The molded form is highlighted with some gold around the moldings. The over-all effect is quite perfect.

Every well-dressed dinner table during the Victorian Period would have had a set of oyster plates.

It measures 7 3/4” x 7 7/8" wide.

We believe that this style is attributed to Austria / Germany.

Be leery of new fakes when you are shopping. In 1890, the U.S. Congress passed the McKinley Tariff Act. This legislation required that imported items be labeled in English with their country of origin. International legislation was signed in 1891. In 1914, the U.S. added a requirement to add the words "Made in" to the country of origin marking.
