Two Sided Match Safe Vesta Case Hound/Riding Crop/Art Nouveau Princess
Around the 17th and 18th centuries vesta cases were part of the gentlemen's dress accessories. This match safe is made of brass with what I believe is a nickel plate finish. The center motifs of a hound and riding crop on one side, and a art nouveau princess on the other, stand out with what looks like a gold finish. The Match safe has been used and has pocket wear, mainly on the high points of the designs. It is in good overall condition, with the hinged lid working as it should. Overall dimensions are 2 3/4" x 1.5" x 3/8 inch. It would be perfect in a match safe vesta case collection, as well as a cross over collection for equine hunting or unusual art nouveau women motifs. We couldn't find anything similar to identify the women figure.
