Stunning, dazzling and spectacular all apply to this magnificent vintage kimono made in Japan in the 1960s. The material is woven rayon brocade and it’s predominately made with golden metallic threads. The design is floral with round Chrysanthemums (the National Flower of Japan) with red centers and leaves of navy blue outlined with turquoise threads. The kimono opens at the front and has wide sleeves that extend to the mid forearm. There are pockets on each side of the front opening. The tops of the pockets are slightly diagonal. There is a matching brocade sash that can close the kimono if you desire to wear it closed instead of open. The kimono is lined with cream colored rayon material. The fabric of this beautiful kimono is more for a dressy occasion and does not particularly lend itself to serve as a robe. It is more of a formal garment and would make a truly amazing evening coat.
Condition: Very Good
This kimono was most likely purchased as a souvenir of a lovely trip to Japan and brought back to wear for special events. It does appear to have been worn very little and is in very nice condition. On the inner rayon lining on the right upper area near the collar there is a very tiny hole in the material. This almost goes unnoticed but can be seen when looking for issue, but will never be seen when the kimono is being worn. The outside material is in excellent condition.
