This is an incredible find and more beautiful in person. Purchased from an upscale North Carolina estate, this art depicts a woman rowing a canoe, most likely off to the market to sell her baskets of flowers. The most amazing aspect of this piece is that it is all hand-embroidered! It appears to be painted, but the entire piece was intricately handcrafted with fine needlepoint.
The heavy, gold-painted bamboo style wood frame measures 28" wide and 21.5" high. The image view is 19" wide and 12.5" high, surrounded by a black mat with a beveled, gold-painted interior wood liner. It is protected by glass. Please note, this is a high quality, stunning piece and not a mass-produced example of art embroidery. This technique required enormous skill, patience and time to complete and, without a doubt, will be a beautiful decorative piece in any home. Circa 1950s or '60s, both art and frame are in pristine condition with little to no wear. It has been highly treasured and cared for over the years and is a fine work of art for any decor.
