Really quite English looking! This "Old English" dessert fork by Towle has a pattern of roses and foliage around the top of the handle and repousse roses and scrolls in the bowl with scrolls extending down the handle giving it that Art Nouveau look so popular in 1892 when this pattern was patented. The sterling silver work has a gold wash from the bottom of the handle into the bowl and tines of the fork. The gilt with the floral relief gives the utensil an opulence. The front of the handle is monogrammed BMC. The back of the handle is embossed 925/1000 the "T" Towle monogram STERLING PAT. 1892. The fork is 6" long and weighs 4.5 grams It is in very fine condition with hardly any wear to the gilding. This dessert fork could also function nicely as a salad fork, or it could be a statement serving fork at an elegant table.
