All surfaces of this fine 800 silver Florentine cigarette case are hand engraved with a pattern of florals, foliage and scrolls with lines and cross hatching background. Even the edges of the case are inscribed as well as the bar inside which holds the cigarettes in place. The case closes tightly and securely. The interior is polished silver except for the swing away cross bar which functions nicely, clicking securely into place. The interior is stamped 800 (silver fineness) in an oval cartouche and 27/FI in a lozenge with cut sides cartouche. These marks were used from 1944 to 1968. FI is the town mark for Firenze (Florence, Italy).
The case measures 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" X 3/8" on the outside; 3 1/4" square on the inside, slender cigarettes or perfect size for credit/business cards. Weight is 100.3 grams. The silver is thick and there are no dents. There is no monogram.
