Beautiful examples of the craftsmanship and artistry of the Aesthetic Movement. This ca 1870s serving spoon and fork set which tests to be coin silver (900/1000 purity) is American made but unmarked as a lot of silver was back then. The handles, front and back, have a raised floral and foliage pattern against a textured background; the motifs are done in the Japanese style which inspired many Aesthetic designs. The top of the handles is incised with a fancy "D" monogram.
The fork is 8" long and weighs 51.9 grams. The spoon is 8 1/4" long and weighs 51.2 grams. Combined weight is 3.32 oz. troy. The spoon bowl has a small shallow dent.
