This is a gorgeous vintage Chinese silk hand embroidered robe. The robe features floral motifs in tones of red, pink, green, blue, purple, violet and brown against a gold toned yellow background - the sleeve cuffs, neckline trim and bottom open edges are white. It closes with five black frogs with buttons and cloth loops. It is lined in a similarly coloured fine silk.
Age: Difficult to say for sure, but this came from the estate of a couple who travelled to China during the 1950s and 60s, so it is at least that old, but may have been old when purchased.
Sizing: There is, of course, no size label, and although this should fit a range of medium sizes, please rely on the following measurements for fit, taking the style of the garment into account:
Neck: 14 1/2” - 15”
Shoulders and sleeves: 49” across the top
Sleeve Inseam: 14”
Bust: 42” around
Waist: 45” around
Overall Length: 42”, taken at the back from the top of the neck to the hemline
Condition: This robe is in excellent condition with no wear, tears, marking or stains. The robe had been in storage for many years and, although I have aired it, may need further airing.
This is a beautiful piece that would make a lovely wall display - large amount of hand work on this robe!
