The cover design of this beautiful, Victorian Ambrotype dates it to circa 1851.
It measures 2 and 15/16” (7.4cms) by 2 and 3/8” (6cms).
The wooden frame is covered with black leather . Back and front carry the same embossed design of a basket of fruit in a gothic style frame with curlicues of acanthus leaf curlicues in the corners. It closes with a little brass catch.
Inside the left side is in padded, dark red velvet. It carries a pretty design of flowers and leaves.
On the right side in a gilded frame. It contains a photo of a handsome lady. She wears what looks like an agate pin at her throat against a lace collar. There are tiny buttons down the front of he dress.
Apart from some wear to the high points on the fruit, this beautiful Ambrotype is in fine antique condition. It will arrive in a gift box
