This exquisite, Georgian bracelet is made of cut steel, with a 9 carat gold clasp and black dot pastes.

I am fascinated by cut steel, an old jewellery process which dates back to at least the sixteenth century and became the height of fashion in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It was designed to imitate the glitter of diamonds in candle light.

The bracelet is 7” (17.5cms) long so would suit a 6½” wrist. It weighs 6.4 grams.

This dainty bracelet has three strands of tiny cut steels which really glitter in the light. You could wear them straight or as a torsade.

The 10mm paste clasp has the black dots characteristic of Georgian pastes. It has plenty of sparkle. It is mounted on at least 9 carat gold (tested) and the push in clasp is also gold. The clasp clicks in perfectly.

In excellent antique condition, this delightful bracelet will arrive in a gift box.
