World War II era hand made and paint decorated folk art Colonial doll house, signed & dated 1943. The outside of the house is finely painted to show the details of the wood siding. The interiors with traces of original wall coverings, chimneypiece, telephone, etc. Both the chimney and the side are signed - "Made by Vincent Dexter, Christmas December 25, 1943 for his daughter."
The chimney is detachable to allow for the hinged roof to be lifted up at the back. A clever design beautifully executed. Some losses and wear - the clear panes are gone from two upper side windows and pieces of the small brick foundation are missing. Overall presents very well. Measures 24" wide x 12 1/4" deep x 18 1/2" tall at the roof peak, 20 3/4" tall to top of chimney.
