This is a small vintage print of an Indian Maiden in a canoe. At the lower left is the title "Placid Waters." At the lower right is: "© By the G.B. Co. Joliet, Ill." The initials stood for the Gerlach Barklow company in Joliet Illinois, a large calendar print company. The print is shown on page 49 of Norman Platnick's guide to the works of the artist and photographer, James Arthur (1855-1912).
She is in a deep wood frame with glass, a cardboard backing, and a wire for hanging.
Size: The frame measures approximately 6 inches tall and 4 1/4 inches wide. The inside measurements, taken from the back, are 3 1/8" by 2 3/8." It is 2" deep.
Condition: I note some scratches to the frame's finish, but no damage to the print.
