LOYS LUCHA
A beautiful French 1930 art deco chandelier in nickel plated solid brass or bronze holding a bowl by the glass manufactory of Loÿs Lucha: "la société anonyme des Verreries Artistiques". This was the company of Louis Joseph Chaffard-Luçon (1880-1951). Based in Paris Boulogne-sur-Seine it was specialized in enameled shades in art deco style.
In French art deco lighting we can only find a similar high quality enameled glass by Maxonade or Aurys and the Daum related company Leune in Nancy. Around 1930 Chaffard moved to 31 rue Fernand Pelloutier in Boulogne-billancourt.The shade of this chandelier is done in enameled glass in the center and an acid engraved border. The center received a decoration outlined in relief on the outside. The enameled colors were placed in the deeper parts.
The bowl is signed Loÿs Lucha. A similar one is represented in the 1931 Lucha catalog. This decoration was called "Zetty". The fixture has a total drop of 44.5 cm (17-1/2") and a diameter of 40 cm (15-3/4"). It's in very good condition. I have re-nickeled and patinated the fixture with its beautiful canopy. It comes newly wired. The chandelier holds a US standard base socket.
