This is a simply MAGNIFICENT set of the SUBSTANTIAL Flower Grower's Guide by John Wright, F.R.H.S. with coloured GLORIOUS illustrations by Miss Marie Low and illustrated throughout.

This monumental work, containing everything a gardiner would want to know and perhaps more! is in three finely bound [leather spines and corners, gilt edging, fine cloth boards, marbled edges] volumes and is complete.

It was published by J. S. Virtue & Co., Limited, London. 1897 (undated but the Preface by J. Wright is dated April 9, 1897, with the dedication page preceding the preface dated to 1896), so I believe this to be the first edition.
This publication is more commonly found bound as 6 smaller cloth hardback 'Divisions'. This particular set was published as three volumes as denoted on the title pages.

It is rare indeed to find a set that is complete, beautifully bound and in lovely condition.
There is a little scuffing and shelfwear, but the binding, which is unusual in volumes of this size is absolutely sound and there is but minimal foxing. Each volume measures 11 by 8 1/2 inches and weighs over 2 kilos - almost FIVE pounds!
