This magnificent piece truly is beautiful and the lions are very impressive. The gold leaf and stem decoration is very heavily applied and raised. It has been placed on a warm yellow green background that gets slightly lighter as it recedes down the sides. The golden lion head handles on the sides have acquired a wonderful patina on the gold. The artist has applied gold to the outside and inside of the rim, extending sponge gold down onto the upper portion of the piece. There is a hairline inside on the bottom. It is virtually invisible on the outside. One of the lions has a flea-bite on the INSIDE of each tooth. It truly does not detract. There is a normal amount of wear to the gold around the rim. This piece would be a wonderful addition to any collection of porcelain. Manufacturing anomalies may exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
