Ladies and gentlemen, this is a piece that will knock your socks off! If you have ever wanted a WOW piece this is it. The artist has used one of Pouyat's famous elephant handled jardiniere mold to create his master piece. He has perfectly painted wonderful morning glory blossoms using different shade of coral, then letting the white from the porcelain show through giving them a wonderful variegated look. He has added moss green leaves accented with brown and taupe veins. He has placed this flora on a wonderful cream and very light taupe background. Each side of this piece has elephant head handles adorned in gold complementing the wide golden neck of the jardiniere. The gilding is in very good condition, with only light loss on the rim edge & handles. It measures 12" wide at the Elephant handles & 7 1/2" tall. This magnificent piece sits on a very ornate, three footed, old Paris style base made by Tressemann & Vogt. The artist has painted the base a wonderful warm chocolate color but has incorporated a light taupe within the brown bringing out each scroll and dip in the design. The browns in the base tie in beautifully with the taupe in the jardiniere's background and leave accents. The artist has initialed and dated the base,VF 1893. The jardiniere displays beautifully. There are no hairlines or cracks; manufacturing anomalies do exist, the occasional tiny iron speck, dust 'bump' in the glaze, etc.
