We are excited to offer this darling little antique purse. This genuine George III period purse dates from the 1810 to 1815 period (for accuracy during the reign of Prince Regent as his father George III was incapacitated between the years of 1812 to 1820 with health problems).

The rarity here is rare dusky pink and silver colourway. Having retailed antique 18th and early 19th century purses for over 20 years, pink is a color that one rarely sees.

This is one of a discerning single owner collection that we have been fortunate to have acquired. Many of those purses we understand from their labeling references to be previous museum deaccescions.

This sweetie was very finely netted in pink silk lozenge designs interspersed with silver wrapped thread. The frame is of silver plate over copper the designs of teeny lozenge motifs with a row of tiny ball designs overhead. The top push button opener opens and closes well. The matching four ball and beaded base tassel is a delight.

Please see a very similar purse in gold and green, held by the V & A Museum, London, ref T.29-1946

Size: H 4 1/4 inch to top of top button by 3 1/4 inch at its widest point. (H 10.5 cm by W 9 cm)

Condition: Good but this honey is showing gentle signs of her 200 plus years. Please study our many images. Minor rubbing to silver plate on tips of ball decoration. A hole just under the vacant chatelaine hook, and an old darned repair just below this area. Signs of re-stitching to frame, very common over two centuries with metal frame purses.

All quite easy to forgive due to the delightfully rare colouring of this Regency treasure.
