This is an absolutely wonderful item for the early photograph collector, fashion enthusiast or social historian! Purchased from a single owner collection.
This fabulous ambrotype photograph was taken in circa 1855. The photograph depicts an English gentleman sat in a chair in three quarter view. This smart man has pristine side parted hair slightly swept forward at the temple. He wears an elegant vest, frock or morning coat, starched shirt with tall chin height collar and black silk neck tie/stock. As you can clearly see from our images the ambrotype is sealed and backed with laid paper, as was the process at this time for both Daguerreotypes and ambrotypes. The photograph is housed in the most attractive period maple veneered frame; we love the dulled metal oval mount. The combination of the photograph and the decorative frame means this artwork will display excellently in any interior!
The photograph was purchased as one of a pair, each sold separately.
