Attention all Simon & Halbig aficionados...Here is the doll of your dreams! Coming across the rare 739 mold in a lighter skin tone is a super find, as the 739 was mainly made as a black doll. With strong, deeply molded character features predating the German Character doll era, this dear girl is as sweet as can be in her pretty antique deep purple velvet dress. What a unique doll to add to any collection of antique dolls! Be the only one in your doll circle to own a rare 739.

She has a bisque socket head with deep brown glass eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, thick brown brows, an open mouth with six upper teeth, and a dimpled chin. She stands at 15” on her original straight-wristed wood and composition body, and wears a vintage light brown mohair wig.
She wears an antique dark purple velvet dress, with a dropped waist, white lace and lavender ribbon trim at the sleeves and collar, and a light mauve sash. Underneath, she wears an antique white cotton full slip with an eyelet lace skirt and a pair of antique white cotton pantaloons with eyelet lace trim. On her feet are a pair of white knit socks and vintage black faux leather shoes. In her hair is a white ribbon and around her neck is a long faux pearl necklace.
MARKS: S 8 1/2 H 739 DEP [incised, back of head]
CONDITION: Excellent. The bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, or restoration, with top-quality modeling and painting of features; there are some small rubs, superficial paint marks, and inherent marks. The original eyes have good pupil alignment. The original wood and composition body has extensive damage and repair, but retains some of its original shiny finish; it is still a wonderful example of an early original Simon & Halbig body. The antique costume has some wear, especially to the velvet, and presents well.
