She has a bisque socket head with big blue sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, molded and feathered brown brows, an open mouth with four upper teeth, pierced ears, and a dimpled chin. She stands at 13” tall on her original fully jointed wood and composition body, and wears her original blond mohair wig, worn short with bangs.
She wears a dark green print silk dress with a cream, tan, and purple floral pattern; the bodice has a panel of white lace down the front crossed by three green silk strips, with lace-trimmed sleeves, and a dark magenta sash. Underneath, she wears an antique white flannel half slip with lace trim and a white knit onesie with a windowpane pattern. On her feet are a pair of white knit socks and antique cream-colored oilcloth shoes. On her head is a vintage straw hat with a fuchsia silk flower.
MARKS: S&H 1079 / Germany / 4 [back of head, incised, difficult to read]
CONDITION: Her bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration, with top-quality modeling and painting of features. The painting and detailing to the bisque is crisp and colorful. The glass eyes sleep well, and are aligned well in the head. The wood and composition body has typical age wear and areas of touchup; it otherwise retains much of its original shiny finish. The costume has minor and expected age wear, especially melted and shredding silk on the back of the dress, but the front is intact and presents beautifully. This is to be expected with antique and vintage doll clothing, but overall, the costume is great and presents well!
*Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
