WHAT A TREASURE! If you are at that point in your collecting career when only the finest and the cutest are allowed into the house- well, this little darling will have you wrapped around his little finger in no time at all! Just look into those gorgeous blue eyes, darling antique costume and those charming roller skates and tell me you are not pining to hold him! Just a darling doll, this Kestner Character is one of the most sought after toddlers. It is rare to find the 220 mold--even more rare than the highly prized "Hilda" toddler. They just don't come any cuter!
***YES HE IS AVAILABLE ON LAYAWAY!*** Take up to 10 months to own the doll of your dreams, because someone else sure will step up to the plate and steal him away. Call us anytime at 718-859-0901 for an in-hand description of his beauty and cuteness and/or to discuss layaway plans!
He has a bisque socket head with blue glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, small feathered brows, an open mouth with two upper teeth, and a double chin. He stands at 21” on his original slanted-hip fully jointed toddler body, and wears an antique light brown human hair wig, worn in a short straight style.
He is dressed in an antique red wool jacket, with a sailor-style collar, brass-toned buttons, and pleats down either side of the front and back, with pink pants. Underneath, he wears an antique white silk shirt with pin tucks and insertion lace down the front, and lace trim at the cuffs and collar, over an antique pale pink undershirt. On his feet are a pair of red and white striped socks and antique red oilcloth shoes with tin rollerskates on the soles. On his head is an antique red knitted beret with a matching pompom on top. A wonderful, unique presentation!
MARKS: K made in 14 / Germany / JDK. / 220
CONDITION: There are a couple hairlines on the front right side of the head, which are difficult to see under normal lighting, and are hidden well by the wig; these have not been reinforced, but can be upon request. There are also a few rubs and inherent marks to the face. The bisque head is otherwise free of any cracks, chips, or restoration, and features expert modeling and painting of a delightful character face. The original blue glass sleep eyes sleep well and are aligned well in the head. The possibly original rubber hands have been repainted to better match the body, which has several areas of touch-ups. Otherwise, it retains much of its original shiny finish. The costume is good, with some areas of repair and a broken button loop on the jacket, moth holes on the hat, some tearing to the silk shirt, and expected age wear to the roller skates. Otherwise, the costume fits well and presents wonderfully; the roller skate wheels spin well and give the whole ensemble a truly unique presentation. A wonderful and rare character toddler with all the charm and appeal that has made him a very sought-after doll in the antique collectible doll market today! A real Prize!!!!
*Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
