In her superb pale pink antique wedding gown, this young lady is the quintessential vision of a blushing bride of the late 1890s to 1910. The grace and charm reflected in her young and slender silhouette; the delicate arrangement of the curls in her light brown hair will surely be the envy of all the other young ladies at her reception. Her demure countenance is meant impress her groom and her in-laws to-be—for she is finely appointed in all the required manners of her time, accurately reflecting the garments and social norms of her day. With a lovely bisque head produced by Simon and Halbig and a stunning, slender and shapely body meant to represent a young lady of the Edwardian era, this girl is one of the finest examples I have come across. Don't pass her by.

She has a bisque socket head with big blue glass sleep eyes, painted lower lashes, real upper lashes, feathered and textured blond brows, a slender nose, an open mouth with four upper teeth, and pierced ears. She stands at 20” tall on her original stamped Handwerk wood and composition young lady body, with a sculpted shapely torso and slender limbs, and wears her original light brown human hair wig, styled in an intricately curled updo.
She is dressed in a gorgeous antique pale pink silk dress, decorated all over with woven-in Swiss dots, and separated into two pieces. The outer piece is the bodice, with three pale pink silk flowers down the front, descending in size, two pleated “wings” on the front, horizontal pleating at the waist, ruching up the back, and white cotton lining; it also has voluminous sleeves, and an overskirt decorated with sewn-on silk ribbons. The inner piece is the skirt, which is decorated with sheer gathered ribbon, and has a second layer added to the hem, and white cotton lining. Underneath, she wears an antique white cotton half slip, with a ruffled layer at the hem with insertion lace and lace trim, and a layer of lace on the inside of the hem; she also wears an antique white cotton chemise, with lace trim at the hem and neckline, insertion lace at the bodice, and lace straps with pink insertion ribbon and pink bows, and a pair of antique white cotton pantaloons with insertion lace and lace trim; all the lace on the undergarments matches. On her feet are a pair of white net socks and antique white oilcloth shoes with bows. On her head is a gorgeous white net veil, with two layers of net, and a stiff white cloth headpiece covered in sequins, resembling a Russian kokoshnik tiara. She carries a small bouquet with pink and white silk flowers, wrapped in white lace and three cream-colored ribbons tied in a bow with long tails, and wears a pair of earrings with round pink and faux pearl beads, and dangling teardrop-shaped faux pearl beads. A simply gorgeous presentation!

CONDITION: Excellent. The bisque head is free of any cracks, chips, hairlines, or restoration, and is wonderfully modeled and painted into a finely-featured young lady. The original body has one replaced and touched-up hand, but otherwise retains its original shiny finish, with minimal age wear. The costume is wonderful, but has some typical age-related damage; the dress has melted silk and threadbare areas, mainly at the sleeves and back of the bodice. The ribbon decorations to the skirts have also deteriorated. However, the costume still presents well. She is a fine example of this very beautiful and elusive mold with a very ladylike demeanor in an attractive antique bride’s costume. A fabulous overall presentation!
