She has a bisque socket head with deep brown glass sleep eyes, real upper lashes and painted lower lashes, feathered brown brows, an open mouth with four upper teeth, a slightly dimpled chin, and pierced ears. She stands at 20.5” on her original antique fully-jointed wood and composition body, and wears a dark brown human hair wig, styled in loose curls and pulled-back twists.
She wears her original pale blue silk dress, with a pleated skirt and gathered bodice and sleeves, and a large blue silk bib collar, with white stitched stripes and a large tatted lace trim along the bottom; at the neck, the collar has white lace trim and a gold-tone pin with a blue textured heart. Underneath, she wears an antique white cotton half slip and pantaloons, both with lace trim. On her feet, she wears a pair of white net socks, and her original blue leather boots. On her head, she wears an antique pale blue-grey brocade bonnet, with a wide beige velvet ribbon and bow, pale blue lace trim around the brim, and white lace trim framing the head.
MARKS: DEP / 13 [back of head, incised]
CONDITION: Excellent! The bisque head is free of any hairlines, cracks, chips, or restoration, though she does have some minor, typical flaking of the earring holes. Her original glass eyes sleep well, and have good pupil alignment, and the upper lashes are still full. The painting is precise and colorful, resulting in a life-like child doll with wonderful facial presentation. The hands have been repainted, and the rest of the body has some surface crazing, but otherwise retains its original finish. Her original dress has some age-related wear and discoloration, and the blue color is completely faded from the front, but remains in the back; additionally, there are some pink stains near the hem, and some trim appears to have been removed at some point. The bonnet has damage to the lace around the brim. The costume is otherwise in good condition, and fits her well. Overall, this is a great DEP!
*Please note that the price shown for this doll was calculated by factoring in the doll’s condition carefully. The doll’s condition is described fully in the "Condition" paragraph above. Any damage or flaws are carefully evaluated as to the manner in which they may reduce the retail value of this item. Unless there is some major issue we overlooked in the condition report, we decline to entertain any proposals for price reductions due to a less than perfect condition report. Most dolls that are over 100 years old will have encountered issues over the years and perfection is rare when it comes to antiques.
