This is from a local estate in Central Pennsylvania from a couple who served in Taiwan in the 1970s. During their tour of duty, they purchase art from Southeast Asia. This is from their collection.
This art is first carved in Masonite, a hard particle board, to create an outline for the scene. Then the artist skillfully adds color. This is a scene of local people bringing goods to a market located on the river’s edge.
The painting is signed and dated 74 for 1974. The art is in good condition. The art is encased in a beautiful wood frame and matting which add to the artistic look. The frame measures 24 by 20 inches. This is very colorful and would be a fantastic accent for your home or office. Enjoy!
