This lovely antique 14K thimble is an estate piece and was found in what appears to be its original box as shown in the photos. It is fully marked with the 1892 Ketchum McDougall mark and 14K inside the thimble . I have tried to photo this but have not been very successful. The thimble shows no wear nor damage and is "totally in the round". The box has a name written in the bottom which can be seen in the photos. The cover of the box has split on one corner. The name on the cover says "Gimbel Brothers Philadelphia, Paris, New York". There is another scrap of paper with a name and address that was also folded and tucked inside of it. Perhaps the person who inherited the thimble? Hard to know, but I will include it with the thimble. The thimble has no monogram and is a size 8. It weighs 5.2 grams on my jewelry scale. There is lovely raised scrolling along the bottom of the thimble making it very decorative. It is a beautiful thimble in immaculate condition. How nice to have some provenance for this thimble as well. If you are a collector of gold thimbles or antique sewing items, this thimble will make a wonderful addition to your collection.
