Antique Bronze Sculpture, English Poet Chaucer, Canterbury Tales
A lovely Antique bronze Sculpture depicting Geoffrey Chaucer ( 1340s – 1400). Chaucer was an English poet, author, and civil servant best known for The Canterbury Tales. He has been called the "father of English literature", or, alternatively, the "father of English poetry".
The Sculpture depicts Chaucer in his traditional robes and head covering, holding a copy of his seminal work Canterbury Tales while resting against a column also inscribed with the title of the book. The Bronze measures 12½" high x 7" x 5". It is in very good overall condition with a nice natural patina. The only thing to note is the column is slightly loose, it wouldn't matter once it was in place.
