Antique Print, Saint John the Baptist by Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino
A fine Antique Print depicting the painting, Saint John the Baptist as a Boy. The painting was originally done circa 1518-1519 by the studio of Raphael, it is currently displayed in the Uffizi in Florence. Raffaello Sanzio da Urbino ( 1483 – 1520) known as Raphael, was an Italian painter and architect of the High Renaissance. His work is admired for its clarity of form, ease of composition, and visual achievement of the Neoplatonic ideal of human grandeur. Together with Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci, he forms the traditional trinity of great masters of that period.
The Saint John the Baptist print is sepia toned and is in an ebonized or fumed oak frame complete with glass. It has a label identifying the print from Italy and a framers label from the US, prints were purchased as souvenirs of the Grand Tour then framed at home so you didn't have to transport a sheet of glass in your steamer trunks. Overall dimensions are 14 1/4" wide x 15 5/8" high including the frame. The Print is in very good overall condition.
