This is a Bohemian Czech art glass box. The maker is unknown. The date is circa 1890.
The box is 3 ¼” high and 3” wide at the belly.
The glass is clear and amethyst purple. The purple color may be flashed, or else the maker applied an iridescent coating to the purple color. The color looks lighter in the light, and a darker purple outside of the light.
The fitting is brass, with age patina. The hinge is the type made and used in the 19th century. The lid has a mold line that goes across the top. The enameled decoration is mostly gold and white, and it shows age wear.
The brass fitting on the top and bottom shows the original stuff that the maker used to apply the metal to the glass.
The bottom is flat with a small round indentation where a pontil would be.
There are no chips or cracks. However this is an old piece and it looks like an old piece.
