This is an American clear glass box with a brass ormolu footed bottom and a brass finial. The maker is Heisey. The glass is marked with the H inside a vertical diamond shape and it is the mark with the deeper edge, or double line. The brass is stamped Apollo A899. The date is circa 1901 to 1920.
The box, including the brass metal, is 3 ½” high to the top of the finial, 4” long and 3 ½” wide.
The glass is thick and clear, a type of crystal glass that Heisey produced.
The lid is original to the box. The lid has two flaws, a flat chip on the underside tip at one corner, and a shorter round end at the opposite corner. The second flaw may be how the lid was produced, or a glass repair specialist may have ground down the corner at one time for the estate. The lid is a perfect fit.
The finial is interesting, leaves that curl up to form the shape.
The footed brass holder has intricate designs and is quite pretty.
The brass has age patina.
There are light glares in the photos.
