If you like red glass, this vase is beautiful and unusual. I don’t know the maker. I am told by a glass collector that the vase is Bohemian Czech, circa 1930.
The vase is 14 ½” high and 4” wide at the foot.
The glass is pressed into a pattern of symmetrical indentations, which gives a somewhat Asian appearance to it. The glass is thin and rings when tapped. The rim of the mouth is round and smooth with a yellow line in the glass. There is a clear glass foot. The clear glass is brought up around the end of the red glass and smoothed by hand into regular points around the base.
You can see my hand through the glass in a photo.
There are no chips, nicks or cracks. There are a few tiny air bubbles. The red glass has a few random tiny dots of dark color, which is either caused by the glassmaking process in producing the red color, or possibly ash flecks from a wood firing kiln.
There are light glares in the photos.
I have not seen a vase similar to this one. If you know the maker and wish to give me the information, you can contact me through my shop.
