A French Country comtoise, or grandfather clock, with polychrome painted pine case and embossed brass pendulum. Original seven day Morbier movement, professionally cleaned and in working order, having an enamel face signed by the clockmaker, Ernest Maurel of Fanjeaux (a commune in the Aude department in southern France). This clock features an automated pendulum with a sailboat that rocks as the pendulum swings back and forth. Beautifully detailed embossment with nautical theme including a large anchor, oars, fish, rope, and nets. The bottom of the case has an oval decoupage harbor scene surrounded by a garland of flowers.
