A Rare Counterpart Pair of 19th Century Dutch Delft Tile Panels CAT & DOG

This is a great pair of late 19th century Delft polychrome tile pictures, one depicting a "Keeshond" or "Barge Dog" and the other a House Cat. The cat is depicted curiously with human facial characteristics and quite a bit larger than the dog. They are hand painted in manganese, blue dark green and yellow, each seated in an outdoor setting with a wispy blue sky around them. The border of the tiles forms a manganese frame around the central image.

Each of the 4-tile panels measure about 10 inches x 10 inches, with each individual tile measuring about 5 inches. The tiles are about 3/8 inches deep, mounted on a plywood backing, ready for display.

The Dutch delft tiles were made by Ravesteijn, Utrecht Netherlands, c. 1890-1920
