Plate 6 (not shown) of a series of plates engraved after paintings by Serres which were themselves painted after a series of sketches by Philip Orsbridge (d. 1766), who was a Lieutenant on board the Orford, depicting different stages of the British siege of Havana which took place between 6 June and 13 August 1762. This hand colored engraving depicts the attacking and taking of the Castle and Batteries of Choera, June 11, 1762. Good overall condition, with some minor edge tear repairs, toning and imperfections commensurate with age and use. Matted under glass in a molded giltwood frame, with some edge losses. Dimensions: 17 ¼” H x 24 ½” W, sight; 25 ¾” H x 33 ⅝” W, framed. Ref: 537
