A fine impressionist New Hampshire landscape by American artist Chauncey Foster Ryder (1868-1949). Ryder grew up in New Haven, Connecticut, studied in Chicago & Paris, eventually settling in New York City, with a summer home in Wilton, New Hampshire. He became well known as an impressionist and tonalist painter of landscapes. Oil on canvas, signed lower left, titled on verso stretcher and artist handwritten label “North Branch Pasture,” with the artist’s NY address, as well as a Simpson Galleries (Houston TX) label on verso, and housed in a carved giltwood frame. Dimensions: 22 in H x 28 in W, actual; 24.75 in H x 31 in W, framed. Ref: 8
