This little sad iron is so realistic, but it is only 2-3/8 inches long and 1-1/2 inches across the base. We found it among other items in our mother's estate. It dates from around the 1940s. It would make a fantastic addition to a doll house or a collection of miniature housekeeping tools.
It is made of QUALITY cast iron, molded with excellent, clear detail. The color is wonderfully age darkened, and it has developed a great surface patina with absolutely no rust. IMPORTANT: We have NOT "cleaned" it - our huge computer enlarged pictures show some slight "age crud" in some places. We do NOT clean any item whose surface condition is important to collectors.
This weighs a full FOUR ounces -- 1/4 of a pound!! Amazing for its tiny size.
The ONLY issue we can find is a tiny, shallow nick on the surface of the underside.
