Rare 'Bombé' Shaped Tolework Triple Compartment Coffee Caddy with three separately opening mahogany wooden lids which came from a high class Grocery Store in Victorian England.
With its original makers plaque on the reverse saying 'Parnall & Sons.... Bristol' (see photo) and slightly worn gilded front lettering 'COFFEE', this is a unique and rare relic of the late Victorian age and the Japanners; (-or Toleworkers') craft.
Another enamel plaque attached to the top front of the lid states ' Parnall & Co, Narrow Wine Street, Bristol'
The Caddy is still very useable for storing coffee beans. in a modern kitchen.
Measures 25 inches long x 11 deep x 14 high- in very good condition with some surface wear, tarnishing and various other imperfections from age and usage.. Made in Bristol, England Circa 1860- 1890.
