Johann Christoph, Volkamer,(1644-1720) was a Nurenberg botanist. He is best known for his two-tome book "Nurenberg Hesperides" which illustrates various citrus plants including citron, lemon and bitter orange along with Nurenberg gardens and landscapes. The term Hesperides comes from Greek mythology and roughly translates as a "blissful garden". Click on photos to enlarge and appreciate in detail. Hand colored, matted and framed, ready to display.
