(Sorry for the reflections in the glass.) Alexander Drysdale painted this iconic Louisiana bayou scene on board rather than the usual oil wash on paper, giving it a vividness you do not often see in his paintings (which can actually sometimes be a bit washed-out or too murky). I stay away from the more insipid ones, and this is really fine one, head and shoulders above most.
