Anne Allaben painted the original images of "Elena" and "Chiko" in the 1940s, and these original prints by Edward Gross Co. (NYC) were produced in the 1950s. There is a label on the back of one picture, telling us the name (Chiko) and including the artist's signature. The second name was identified with some research. They are in very good condition, however the wood frames do show some age and wear. They measure 4.5" x 3.25" sight and 6.5" x 5.5" framed.
Anne Allaben Farrell (b. 1916 - d. 2009) was best known for her portrait work with children. She was employed by C.R. Gibson Co. and Edward Gross Co. in NYC, where she was responsible for artwork and publishing a series of children's books. All of Allaben's prints began as original oil paintings, later reproduced as prints.
