Blue Ridge Southern Potteries Enchantment Platter in the Colonial Shape - image 1 of 5

This beautiful hand painted Southern Potteries Blue Ridge platter is in the Colonial shape and the Enchantment pattern. The colors are rich with dark red flowers with yellow centers, green leaves and brown stems. This piece is unmarked Blue Ridge.

The platter is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. It does have some tiny light usage marks and a tiny glaze pop bubble on the front. It measures about 11.75" long and 9.5" wide.

Southern Potteries was incorporated in 1920. By 1938, the Blue Ridge line was developed which involved full hand painting under glaze. Local women and girls were trained in free hand painting. By the early 1950's the import of hard plastic dinnerware and growing competition from other potteries cut into the market for Blue Ridge. In 1957, Southern Potteries closed its doors.
