Here’s a beautiful antique Austro-Hungarian Arts & Crafts amethyst and silver ring!
This lovely handmade ring features a large, oval faceted purple amethyst solitaire held by six flat prongs. The amethyst measures 16mm tall by 12mm wide, and is approximately 6.62 carats. It's in excellent condition with crisp facet edges and minimal wear.
The amethyst is surrounded by an ornate, leafy botanical setting with a bold Arts and Crafts aesthetic. Silver spheres accent the ring's shoulders and several other spots around the amethyst. The band is patterned and reminiscent of earlier Georgian rings. We believe this estate ring dates to around 1900, in the late Victorian or early Edwardian Era and that it's Austro-Hungarian in origin.
The band's interior bears a partial mark for 800 (or possibly 900) silver, and acid testing confirms it's 800 or 900 silver. The recessed areas have a wonderful dark patina that accentuates the intricate pattern of the ring. The detail and workmanship is just amazing!
