For sale here is a fine antique circa 1910-20 original German 'scherenschnitte' (scissor cut) silhouette Red Riding Hood and The Wolf in the Forest framed artwork. A fine artwork that was entirely cut by hand from a single piece of black paper that was mounted on white paper (that has yellowed with age), and depicting one of the popular fairy tales of the time in Germany! This artwork was purchased in Germany either just before or just after the 1st World War, and brought back to the US where it was framed by the owner, and where it hung until just recently when I bought it at an estate sale for the present owner who inherited it from the original owner, a relative. Measures 10.5" by 13.5" at outer edges of the frame. No markings or signature that I can see, but I haven't disturbed the back papers that are still intact. I am selling another scherenschnitte from the same estate, and with matching frame etc, the second is of Hansel and Gretel before the Witches House of Candy. Excellent antique condition with the above noted yellowing of the background paper as shown - please view the photos, read the description, and ask all questions prior to purchase.
