A woven pictorial of The Great Wave off Kanagawa and Mount Fuji silk kimono, haori Montsuki for men.
This iconic composition comes from the golden age of Japanese woodblock printing. The artisan manages through the clever and dramatic manipulation of space to show Japan’s snow-caped Mount Fuji with the enormous wave, which is about to crash down in the foreground.
Japanese people rightly consider kimonos to be works of art, often using them to hang over screens and decorate their rooms. Collectors and wearers worldwide agree.
Kimono-Haori is completely wearable. All hand-made-hand-woven in pure, high quality Japanese silk. Japanese men's haori have no openings under the armpit. Obi is not worn with haori jackets so it is not included.
Measurements: Back (flat): 25 inches (64 cm). Sleeve length: 20 inches (51 cm). Length (shoulder to hem): 41 inches (104 cm).
Color is dark brown.
Condition: Excellent vintage. Commissioned in the Showa period. The item is pre-owned/loved and authentic. Completely wearable as a silk suit jacket.
