Eastern Caucasus, cca early 20th century, hand-knotted Perepedil (Pirebedil) village rug, wool on wool.
This well-recognizable and indeed famous design, featuring pronounced hooked ram´s horns and (sometimes) stylized peacocks with star motifs, could be easily defined by even the very novice in the study of rugs, mainly due to the conspicuous horns, characteristic for so-called Perepedils. Our example in golden-light chestnut color combination with ivory elements is particularly attractive collectable piece for seasoned rug collectors and due to its appeal it might be also used as an imposing wall decoration. Rare piece and fine knotting.
Light and even overall wear, very good condition, kindly see detailed images.
MEASURES: cca 156 x 113 cm (cca 5 ft 2 in x 3 ft 9 in).
